Hi friends! If you’ve followed me long enough you know I love to ink blend on my die cuts to give a little something extra in my card designs. Today I’m going to make two cards. One I will use ink blending on the die cuts. The other, I will not. Then you can see the difference for yourself and decide which you like better.

I started by die cutting all my flowers and greenery. I used the Sunflower Serenade and Autumn Sealed Sprigs die sets. I used colored cardstock to decrease the amount of ink blending I needed to do. The colors of cardstock I used are listed below. I’ve also listed some alternatives to the Stampin’ Up colors that are no longer available.
- Evening Evergreen – Stampin’ Up
- Rainforest – Concord & 9th
- Soft Succluent – Stampin’ Up
- Eucalyptus – Concord & 9th
- Grapefruit – Concord & 9th
- Creamsicle – Concord & 9th
- Pebble – Concord & 9th

I ink blended each die cut for my first card using coordinating colors of Concord & 9th ink which are listed below.
Then I took an A2 panel of Evening Evergreen cardstock and embossed with the Handrawn Lines embossing folder from Spellbinders. It is no longer available but the Market Weave Embossing Folder would work great as an alternative. I adhered that to an A2 cardstock base of the same color with liquid glue and then arranged my flowers and greenery on the front. Once I was happy with my placement, I adhered those with liquid glue.

For my sentiment, I used one that I had already prepped months ago using some Gold Glimmer Hot Foil and the Mini Everyday Sentiments Hot Foil Plate and Die Set which is also no longer available. I know! What am I playing at here? BUT the Always and Forever Sentiments Press Plate and Die Set is a great sub. I popped that up on some foam squares and then added some Gold Coin Embellishment Mix from Trinity Stamps.

For the inside, I chomped the corners of a panel of white cardstock cut to 5 1/4 by 4 inches. I used my Crop-A-Dile Stub Punch for that and I think it added a nice subtle detail. Then I used another pre-prepped sentiment from the same set and another flower I prepped at the same time I was assembling the ones for the front.
For the second card, I followed all the same essential steps without ink blending anything and you can see the difference below.

And that concludes our discussions on ink blending on die cuts vs not. Which is your favorite? Honestly, ink blending is a bit of a time commitment depending on how much you’re doing so if I were in a pinch, I might opt to not take that extra set. Either way, you get a beautiful card.
