Design a Festive Fall Shaker Card – Pretty Pink Posh

I have a super fun card today that makes me think of a fall festival. I usually avoid stamp sets that require coloring but I decided to be brave. I am guest designing for Pretty Pink Posh this month with their September release which is full of fall fun. I chose the Fall Word Shaker as my main element for my card because how fun?!?!

I started by stenciling my background with the Gingham Stencil on Nectar cardstock with Orange Cream Fresh Dye ink. I trimmed 1/8th inch from each side of the panel so an outline from my card base would show around the edges. Then I took my Fall Word Shaker die, placed it in the center of my gingham panel and ran it through my die cut machine. That will be the opening fro my shaker window.

Next I die cut the letter outlines using the same die from a piece of patterned paper I found in my stash. I wanted a pool blue color so I found one with some light polka dots. I took a piece of acetate and adhered it to the back of my gingham panel using double-sided tape. Then I took some foam shaker strips from Gina K Designs to create my shaker window just around the openings where my letters would go. Then I added my shaker filler. I used a few different mixes from Pretty Pink Posh which are Fall Fling, Fall Harvest and Autumn Shaker.

Once my shaker window was filled to my liking, I carefully adhered that down to a Pool Party cardstock card base. This paper is from Stampin’ Up and I think Aqua Sky from Concord & 9th is a close alternative. To adhere the gingham shaker panel, I applied liquid glue to the shaker foam to give me a little extra wiggle room once I pressed my card panel down. Given my gingham panel is slightly smaller than my card base, I had to be really careful to try to and get it centered.

Now that is cute on it’s down but it needed something extra so I grabbed my Turkey Friends stamp set and stamped some of the images onto a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb cardstock. I used Memento Tuxedo Black ink because it is alcohol marker friendly. Then I grabbed my Altenew Artist markers which are alcohol markers and colored those images. The colors I used can be found at the end of this post. I used the coordinating dies to cut those out once colored. I adhered those down as shown in the photos with liquid glue. My shaker window is essentially my sentiment but I wanted something a little more so I stamped a tiny Hello in Versafine Onyx Black onto a strip of white cardstock and adhered that to my turkey as though he was holding it up. Cute!

I stamped and colored quite a few images just in case I ruined some because I’m not great at coloring. I probably did a few too many but that just shows the amount of confidence I have in my abilities. :) So I grabbed a few of those to use on the inside of my card. I grabbed an A2 panel of white cardstock and trimmed 1/8th inches off each side to match the front. Then I stamped a sentiment from the Happy Fall stamp set using Versafine Onyx Black ink. There was still a lot of white space on my panel so I decided to stencil another piece of cardstock just like the front and then I trimmed that down to fit onto the bottom 1 and 1/2 inches of my panel. I adhered that with liquid glue and then added some of the extra colored images to finish it off.
