Stamp Layering – Altenew Beautiful Day

Hi friends! I completed another card class for the Altenew Educator Program, All About Layering 4. Just like the class from my previous post, this class is free. All About Layering 4 is a continuation of ideas for stamp layering cards. For this card, I was inspired by a card made by Erum Tasneem that was featured in this class. She clustered her die cut floral images in the center of a card panel with a subtle stenciled background.

I started with the Beautiful Day bundle. I stamped the outline floral images with Ranger Archival Shadow Grey ink. Using the provided layering guide and my Misti stamping tool, I stamped the remaining images with Altenew Fresh Dye Inks.

Once the stamping was complete, I die cut all the images with the coordinating dies.

For the background, I wanted to have something subtle to anchor the focal design. I pulled out my Circle Quilt Cover Die and cut a panel using Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb cardstock. Then I cut another panel using the same cardstock to measure 5 1/4 by 4 inches. I used the die cut panel as a stencil to ink blend a background pattern onto my second cardstock panel using Altenew Fresh Dye Ink in Butternut and a medium blending brush from Concord & 9th. I focused the darkest area in the center of the panel and blended lighter toward the edges. As I was ink blending, I would place the die cut pieces on the card to ensure I was ink blending a large enough area to be seen behind the focal image.

BONUS, the leftover die cut panel can be used on another card and it already has some fun ink blending for interest.

With my background panel complete, I arranged my flower and leaf images to get an idea for placement. I glued the leaves to my panel, avoiding the tips of the leaves so I could bend them up a bit for dimension. Then I used foam adhesive squares from Simon Says Stamp to pop up the flowers.

I glued my completed card panel to a dark blue A2 card base measuring 8 1/2 by 5 1/2 inches and scored at 4 1/4 inches. For my sentiment, I chose one of the two sentiments included with the stamp set and stamped onto Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb cardstock. Then trimmed that down to a rectangle and glued to the same dark blue card stock leaving a small border around all sides. I popped this up on my card front using the foam adhesive squares. For embellishments, I used Trinity Stamps Glass Slipper embellishment mix, placing them around my focal image using my jewel picker tool.

As always, I like to coordinate the inside of my cards. You can do something as simple as stamping just the outline of the image used on the front of the card which is exactly what I did here. I used the same Coral Bliss ink I used on the front and just stamped a single flower in the bottom right corner. The sentiment is also from the Beautiful Day stamp set. This just makes the card feel more complete and I rarely leave my inside completely blank.

I hope you liked this card. If you would like more inspiration on stamp layering, head over to Altenew and sign up for the All About Layering classes. They are packed with tips to make your cards stand out. Thanks for stopping by today. Now go get creative!
