Halloween Card – Whimsy Stamps Hill House
It’s August so that means I can start getting excited about Halloween! I think Halloween cards are my favorite to make. Today I’m sharing a slimline card using the Hill House Slimline Die from Whimsy Stamps. For the background, I used Blueprint Sketch, Wilted Violet, Seedless Preserves, Carved Pumpkin and Spiced Marmalade Distress Oxide inks. I blended those together and then sprinkled some water on to create the lighter spots.
I supplemented this design with some other die sets from Whimsy Stamps. For the ghosts, I used the Boo Dies. They’re fun shapes and look as though they are flying out of something like a window. I had the ghosts cut from vellum prior to glueing down my Hill House die cut. That way I could tuck those in around the house before the glue completely dried. I also used Dracula’s Coffin and Build a Graveyard die sets for the additional elements on the card. For the bats, cat and fence, I used black glossy cardstock to make those elements stand out a bit.
For the gravestones, I used the Grave Epitaphs set to stamp the images. There are some stamps in this set that create the cracks on the gravestones, but you could free hand those if you wanted. After I assembled the full card front, I placed some Black Dot Confetti embellishments from Trinity Stamps to finish it off.
As always, I had to finish off the inside. I used the boo word die in the Boo Dies set along with the bats from the Build a Graveyard die set. I ink blended around the edges using the same colors as the card front leaving some wispy areas to add a little fun.
