Haunted House Shaker Gift Tag – Spellbinders Craftoween Day 11

Hi friends! We are approaching the end of the Spellbinders 13 Days of Craftoween 2025 Advent Calendar. Today I have my tag using the Day 11 dies. I took some inspiration from a popular Halloween card I did a little over a month ago. You can find that card here.

I created my tag base and frames using the Spellbinders Essential Arches die set. The tag base is from the 7th largest die in the set. The frame was created using the 7th and 9th largest dies. I cut 7 frames from black cardstock to ensure it was stacked thick enough to allow the shaker bits to move freely.

To create my background, I used my go-to Halloween sky color combo in Altenew Fresh Dye inks. I blended those colors in the order below starting at the top of the tag base. I didn’t take care to do a smooth blend because these inks dry back nicely and most of the sky would be covered anyway.

Next I die cut my haunted house from a gray cardstock scrap, the backer from a marigold cardstock scrap and the door from a brown scrap. I also used the ghost from the Day 8 dies. I used some Pure Graphite Altenew Fresh Dye ink to create some shadows and dimension on the haunted house and window layer.

When it was time to assemble my tag, I glued 6 of the frame layers together. Then I put double-sided tape around the 7th frame and cut a piece of acetate using the 8th largest frame in the Essential Arches die set. I adhered the acetate piece to the back of the 7th frame and then used liquid glue to adhere the other stack of frames to that. This created my shaker window. My shaker bits are a mix of the sequins included in the kit plus some Moonlight Confetti Embellishments from Trinity Stamps. I poured those into my shaker frame and then adhered my tag backer onto that with liquid glue to close that off.

Onto the acetate window, I glued my haunted house, ghost and bats. I carefully used liquid glue for that so it didn’t ooze out the sides and ruin my acetate. My sentiment is from the stamp set included with the kit. I just stamped that with Versafine Onyx Black ink and trimmed it down with my paper trimmer.

To attach my ribbon, I cut a white cardstock scrap to loop my ribbon around and then secured that down with liquid glue. You can watch my video linked at the bottom of this post to see how I did that. I used the same orange polka dot ribbon I’ve used on several tags to tie my other strands off into a knot. My fun little tag was complete.

If you’d like to see how I pulled this tag together, you can watch my YouTube video linked below. I hope this inspires you to make some shaker tags of your own even if you don’t have this box. As always, thanks for stopping by today. Now go get crafty!
