Welcome to another installment of “I love the Old-Fashioned Christmas Stocking die set.” Seriously, you can do so much with it. Today I’m not using the stocking at all. I’ll use the cute little poinsettia flowers to create interest around my focal sentiment which is the Stylish Merry Christmas die set from Spellbinders. This die set is no longer available since making this card so I found a sentiment that would work similarly for this card design. The Upright Italic Merry Christmas Press + Foil Plate. You could just foil the sentiment onto dark cardstock and then use a shaped die to create your focal sentiment image.

I started by cutting my sentiment using some Gina K Designs Slate cardstock for the shadow and then gold cardstock for the letters. I created an inlay to ensure I could place the sentiment perfectly within the shadow layer. I popped my sentiment up on black foam adhesive onto a Slate card base. Then I used Jet Black ink to create a highlight around the sentiment.

Next I arranged my floral die cuts and greenery from the Old-Fashioned Christmas Stocking die set around the sentiment. I popped the poinsettias up on foam tape and then adhered the greenery with liquid glue. For my embellishments, I used metallic gold embellishments from Pretty Pink Posh.

For the inside of my card, I foiled a sentiment onto Slate cardstock using the Mistletoe Greetings Press Plate and Die Set . I used gold glimmer hot foil and the coordinating dies to cut it out. I glued that directly down to my inside panel. To create some extra detail, I used my Crop-a-Dile Stub Punch to punch each corner of my panel before adhering down. Then I grabbed my holly leaves and adhered two in opposing corners of the panel. This was a pretty easy card to put together.
