Stitched Christmas Mug Card – Spellbinders Cocoa Greetings
It’s that time of year again! Time to prep for Christmas which means cards and tags. Today I have a cute little deer mug but stay tuned because I’ll have the matching tag coming up! I was really wanting to do some stitching so I incorporated that into the background. I chose really light colors for this card because it reminded me of cold and snow.

I started with my stitched piece which is the Frosted Stitch die set from Spellbinders. I cut that twice from a piece of Spellbinders Chiffon cardstock. It’s a very pale pink and I think it’s my favorite. I glued both layers together to make a more sturdy piece to stitch on. For my stitching, I used embroidery floss from Waffle Flower. I purchased a Stitchable Cards 48 color pack to have a variety of colors and I used the white for this card. I stitched each diamond according the to guide marks on the paper and used double sided tape to hold the loose ends of the floss in place. Once my stitched layer was complete, I cut a solid backing piece from Concord & 9th Nectar cardstock. I put glue over top of the double sided tape I used to hold the floss in place and adhered the stitched layer to the Nectar backer.

For the mug, I used the Cocoa Greetings die set from Spellbinders. I used cardstock scraps to cut all my mug pieces. The detail layer of the whipped cream is cut from glitter white cardstock. I assembled all the pieces of my mug and adhered with liquid glue. These little mugs are quite cute.
My A2 card base is from Concord & 9th Nectar cardstock. I scored and folded my cardstock using my Altenew Scoring Board and a teflon bone folder. You could make a card base without them but I find I don’t get the cleanest look if I don’t. I adhered my stitched element to the card base with liquid glue. Then I used Gina K foam adhesive squares to pop up my mug. I added a few embellishments for some extra detail which are the Vintage Lace Satin Baubles from Trinity Stamps.

All that was left was the sentiment which I pulled from my Merry and Bright Sentiment Strips stash. I had prepped these a while back with my BetterPress machine and BetterPress Black ink pad. I chose one that fit the top of my card and fit with the design.
For the inside, I cut a piece of Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb cardstock to 5 1/4 by 4 inches. Using my Misti Stamping Tool, I stamped a sentiment from the Santa’s Sippin’ Sayings stamp set from Spellbinders using Versafine Onyx Black ink. Then I glued a couple hearts and a snowflake from the Cocoa Greetings die set for some extra embellishment of the inside.

That’s it for this card! The stitching took the most time but it’s so relaxing to me. If you’d like to see my process video, check out the link to my YouTube video below.
