Spellbinders Craftoween Day 1 – Quick and Easy Vampire Card
It is no secret that I love Halloween. So it’s only natural that making Halloween cards brings me immense joy. Spooky scary or spooky cute. I don’t discriminate. When I saw the 13 Days of Craftoween box from Spellbinders, obviously I had to grab one. This card is one I created right out of the box. I followed the color inspiration from the photo included with the die set to keep it simple. I only had an hour to play before I had to log on for work after all and that’s all I needed to create this cute little card.
I knew I wanted my vampire to be flying in front of the moon. To create my moon stencil, I grabbed a scrap cardstock panel and used one of the Hero Arts Nesting Circles Infinity Dies to cut a circle out of the panel. I then placed that DIY stencil over my A2 top folding card base and used Sunray Altenew Fresh Dye ink to blend color onto my moon. I used my Pinkfresh Studio 1″ blending brush to ink blend. If you don’t have these brushes, I HIGHLY recommend them. They blend ink beautifully. To add some dimension and shading, I came back in with Honey Drizzle on the outer edges, almost creating a glow on the inside of the moon. Once it dried back, you couldn’t really tell the center was lighter. In hindsight, I should have used a more orange yellow for the outside edges.

Then, using my Misti Stamping Tool, I stamped both of my sentiments in Versafine Onyx Black ink. You have to be really careful with this ink because it’s a pigment ink and it doesn’t dry immediately. You can either wait for it to dry, be VERY careful or dry it with your heat gun. I have smeared a freshly stamped sentiment more times than I care to admit. With my sentiments stamped, it still looked a little blah so I decided to do some splatter. I grabbed a couple old Stampin’ Up re-inkers. I used Basic Black and Gorgeous Grape. I just put a drop onto an acrylic block, sprayed with a bit of water and then used my fan brush to splatter that into the top left and bottom right of my card. I did the same with the panel I planned to use on the inside of my card.
For my vampire, I just used some cardstock scraps and used the same colors as the image on the Craftoween envelope. I die cut those and then assembled my vampire using the embossed guide on the bottom most layer of the image. I used foam tape to pop him up off the card and placed right in the center of the moon. Then I die cut some bats from black glitter cardstock. Those were not included in the Craftoween Day 1 die set. I pulled those from my Spellbinders Haunted House die set. That was it for the front of my card.

My inside card panel, which I already splattered, was stamped with another sentiment from the Craftoween sentiment stamps. I stamped that in the same Versafine Onyx Black ink and then glued three additional bats cut from purple cardstock. Easy peasy. I adhered that into my card base with liquid glue and BAM…Craftoween Day 1 card complete! This card was so easy to make and you could change up the colors and make it really fun. I’ll definitely be playing around with this die more.
