Christmas Mug Gift Tag – Spellbinders Cocoa Greetings
Hi friends! I promised you a matching tag for my Cocoa Greetings card in my previous post. Well, here it is. My advice, if you’re planning to make a matching tag for your card, go ahead and do all your die cutting at once. That’s what I did here.

I cut two tags to create my base using the Simon Says Stamp and CZ Design Nested Tags dies. One from Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lb cardstock and then another from Concord & 9th Nectar. I glued those together using liquid glue. That made a more sturdy base for my tag. Then I took that combined tag and ran it through my die cutting machine in an embossing folder to add some interest. I used the Ski Lodge embossing folder from Spellbinders because it reminded me of a sweater.
The tag die also cuts a hole in the tag but I wanted to add an eyelet so I needed a slightly larger hole. I used my Crop-a-Dile Eyelet Punch to create a bigger hole and then add white eyelet to reinforce the hole for the ribbon. The eyelet just adds an extra level of detail I think but also serves a functional purpose.

While die cutting for my Cocoa Greetings card, I also die cut extras to make a tag. I used the same colors of cardstock scraps to keep it consistent. After assembling my cute little deer mug, I popped him up on some foam tape and placed him on my tag. I pulled a sentiment from my stash which was from my Merry and Bright Sentiment Strips set from Spellbinders. This is foil/BetterPress set that allows you to press or foil many sentiments at once and then cut them out using the coordinating die in one pass. Super convenient and I love sets like that because I can prep sentiments ahead of time and pull them out whenever I need one.

To finish off the tag, I added some Vintage Lace Satin Baubles from Trinity Stamps and some ribbon. My ribbon is just an assortment from my stash I’ve collected over the years. I try to choose three or four different styles and colors and then tie them off with a wider ribbon in a knot or bow. This tag came together in a flash because most of my elements were already prepped ahead of time. If you’d like to check out the process video, head over to my YouTube channel through the link below. As always, thanks for stopping by today. Now go get crafty!
