It’s tag time! I love making gift tags. I think it’s because it’s a smaller version of a card and you don’t have to write a message. Plus it’s fun to give gifts! For today’s tags, I have quite a few die cuts to create but a tip to make it less time consuming. Altenew has die plates that cut tons of die cuts with one pass through your die cut machine. They are called Zero Waste because you can use the die cut pieces as well as the negative panel to create projects. Today I’m only using the die cuts.

I started by prepping all my die cuts. Using the Berries and Branches Zero Waste Die, I cut four different colors of cardstock. I used Sand, Ballet Slipper, Eucalyptus and Rainforest. When using a really detailed die plate like this, a trick to get a great cut every time is to use a piece of bubble wrap between your die and your cutting plate. It helps apply a bit of extra pressure and give that really helps. Then I cut all the pieces for each of my four ornaments. I used Brushed Silver Cardstock from Altenew for the ornament details and Ballet Slipper and Eucalyptus cardstock from Concord & 9th for the ornament bases.
For the tag bases, I used the Serene Archways Nesting Dies. I used two different sizes. The larger die, I used to cut from Cobblestone cardstock. Then I used a smaller die to cut from Pebble cardstock. I cut eight pieces of each color.

Then it was time to ink blend. I used the Altenew inks listed below to blend some dimension onto my greenery and berries, ornaments and the arches cut from the Pebble cardstock.
- Rocky Shore Fresh Dye Ink
- Blush Rose Fresh Dye Ink
- Misty Harbor Fresh Dye Ink
- Iron Gate Fresh Dye Ink

I used liquid glue to adhered the Pebble arch to the Cobblestone arch to create four tag fronts. Then I arranged my ornament and die cuts on each one. I popped the ornament up on foam tape and then arranged the greenery behind each one. I adhered those down with liquid glue and then used Glossy Accents to add detail to the berries. I added some satin silver embellishments I’ve had for years and little silver ribbon to each ornament. I linked something similar at the end of this post.
For the back of the tags, I used the Wrapped with Love Press Plate and Wrapped with Love Coordinating Dies to foil and die cut a sentiment for the back. I used Silver Glimmer Hot Foil for the sentiment and then additional die cuts to embellish, using Glossy Accents again on the berries. I adhered those to the second Pebble arch and then adhered that to the Cobblestone arch. I glued those to the back of the tag fronts.

Once the tags were completely assembled, I used my Crop-A-Dile punch to punch a hole in the tag. Then I fed some ribbon through and tied it off. I used four different ribbons in coordinating colors to add a little more detail. Using the Zero Waste die really cut down on the amount of die cutting I needed to do for these tags. Highly recommend these dies for projects like this, especially. I hope you found some inspiration from this project. You can see the process video through the link below.
